FAQ:

1. What do the terms TRI, ITRI, and iTRD mean?

A: There are four important parameters used in our website, as following:

2. How can I get the correlation coefficients for my gene?

A: You can click the “Gene” to browse the gene list, and then input your gene name (symbol) in the first column. Those genes contain the characters will be displayed in the table. Select your gene, the correlation coefficients in all the publications will be listed in the table.

3. How can I know the translational regulation strength of my gene relative to others?

A: For each gene, iTRI indicates the translational regulation strength of special gene relative to others in all the collected publications. For each publication, TRI indicates the translational regulation strength of special gene relative to other genes in this publication.

4. How can I know the translational regulation consistency of my gene across different publication?

A: For each gene, we provide the iTRI and iTRD value. iTRI indicates the strength of translational regulation. iTRD is the MAD (Median Absolute Deviation) of TRI for this gene in all the publication. iTRD could be a measurement of the translational regulation consistency.

5. Why some correlation coefficients is missing?

A: There are several cases for missing values:

  1. Some genes in the research results were not identified, or there was no quantitative value in mRNA or protein;
  2. The calculation of correlation coefficient should have at least 5 pairs of samples to improve the accuracy.
  3. iTRD calculation requires at least two TRI values.

6. I have my own RNA and protein expression. Can I submit my data to ProTriD and display in the website?

A: We are glad that you want to submit your data to us. Your contribution will be helpful to improve the data quality and coverage, which will benefit the scientific community.

You can prepare the data to the required format, and send it to us through the submit page. After reviewing the data, we will import your data to the database in the next version.
